Located in Mt. Carroll, this through girder bridge crosses Clay Street (Ilinois Highway 78).
Built in 1949, the bridge features a single through plate girder span, set onto concrete abutments. The bridge runs at a heavy skew, and was originally built for four tracks, although the outer two tracks have been removed. Unfortunately, this likely also removed the builders plaques.
Underneath, the bridge is in poor condition. While the active track has recieved a ballasted deck, the abandoned track has begun to show signs of deterioration. Reinforcements throughout the superstructure have been added.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair to poor condition.

The author has ranked this bridge as being minimally significant, due to the common design.
